EXCELLENT LESSON IN ECONOMICS
Friday, April 17, 2009 at 10:07AM An economics professor at Texas Tech said he had never failed a single student before but had, once, failed an entire class.
That class had insisted that socialism works and that no one would bepoor and no one would be rich; it is the great equalizer.
The professor then said,"OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.
After the first test the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.
But, by the time the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too; so they studied little.
The second test average was a D!
No one was happy.
When the 3rd test rolled around the average was an F.
The scores never increased as bickering, blame, name calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great;
but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.
Could not be any simpler said than that.....
Gov't views opponents of abortion, illegal immigration as possible threats
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 6:12PM WASHINGTON, DC- Department of Homeland Security officials have issued a report which links people with pro-life, anti-illegal immigration views, teachers of end-time prophecies, and veterans of war with"right-wing extremist" groups. (Looks like someone hacked my profile)
In an intelligence assessment issued to law enforcement last week, Homeland Security officials said there was no specific information about an attack in the works by right-wing extremists. But the agency warns that an extended economic downturn with real estate foreclosures, unemployment, and an inability to obtain credit could foster an environment for extremists to recruit members who may not have been supportive of these causes in the past. A Forward Worth Reading
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 6:09PM A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.
The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while
fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.
In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange
question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding a
suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs
find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they
are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.
Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn.
They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.
The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.
If you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem
confronting the future of democracy in America , you might want to send
this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to
our way of life then you will probably delete this email, but God help us
when the gate slams shut!

Celente Calls for Revolution as the Only Solution
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 2:25PM The Yonkers Tribune
April 15, 2009
Kingston NY -- Taxed to death, angry at government bailouts, outraged by Wall Street greed, and bitterly resentful of a system that rewards the undeserving rich, the American public is ready to revolt.
"The Tea Parties and Tax Protests sprouting across the nation, which we had predicted, are harbingers of revolution," said Gerald Celente, Director of The Trends Research Institute. "But they are not enough. Much stronger and directed action is required. Our call for 'Revolution' will galvanize the people, destroy the corrupt ruling systems, and produce a prosperous and more just nation."
The Revolution Celente proposes is unique in concept and bold in execution. It is about a lot more than just "taxation without representation."
"Nothing short of total repudiation of our entrenched systems can rescue America," said Celente. "We are under the control of a two-headed, one party political system. Wall Street controls our financial lives; the media manipulates our minds. These systems cannot be changed from within. There is no alternative. Without a revolution, these institutions will bankrupt the country, keep fighting failed wars, start new ones, and hold us in perpetual intellectual subjugation."
The country is restless, and ripe for radical reform. There is no doubt protests will proliferate and intensify. In response, the government will call out the troops and bring in the police. They will use the Patriot Act to silence, detain, harass, persecute and prosecute groups and individuals exercising their Constitutional rights.
But Celente's Revolution need not degenerate into violence or open warfare.
National Guard is on alert for todays Tea Party. This is nothing but a circus for mainstream media. Small protests never accomplish much and large one typically turn violent. So what is the solution? Celente says we need to have an "Intellectual Revolution." I think he is right. Read the whole article it is worth your time.
Drugs Kill More People Than Ever, Report Finds
Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 12:09PM According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, about 2.5 million people die every year in the United States. Assuming a 10% reporting rate of adverse events to drug therapy based on Q1, 2008 data, it can be concluded that about 8% of the deaths that occur every year in America are due to complications with pharmaceutical drugs. Assuming only a 1% reporting rate, that percentage increases to over 77%. Thus, it can be estimated that the number of people that die every year in the U.S. from adverse drug effects is anywhere from about 192,000 to almost 2,000,000.
To put these numbers into perspective, the National Center for Health Statistics reports that in 2006, 44,572 people died in car accidents, 18,029 from homicide, and 560,102 from all forms of cancer.
These numbers are staggering! What bothers me most is that nobody is held accountable. Lobbyists and the FDA along with the scientists working at the big pharma companies should all be held criminally liable for the product related deaths. If you get behind the wheel of a car while under the influence and kill someone you go to jail for vehicular homocide. If you drug and kill hundreds of thousands you get to keep your profits, the FDA takes the product off the shelf, sometime later you reintroduce the product under a different name and go about your dirty business.
Obama's Administration Embraces Warrentless Spying
Monday, April 13, 2009 at 3:54PM "President Obama promised the American people a new era of transparency, accountability, and respect for civil liberties," said EFF Senior Staff Attorney Kevin Bankston. "But with the Obama Justice Department continuing the Bush administration's cover-up of the National Security Agency's dragnet surveillance of millions of Americans, and insisting that the much-publicized warrantless wiretapping program is still a 'secret' that cannot be reviewed by the courts, it feels like deja vu all over again."
During Obama's campaign he deemed the Bush surveillance program illegal and unconstitutional. Obama's transparency reveals "No-Change" and a whole lot of Bush.
Has power grid been hacked? U.S. won't say
Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 1:49PM By Steve Holland and Randall Mikkelsen Steve Holland And Randall Mikkelsen – 1hr9minsago
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. concerns about the potential for cyber-attacks on critical infrastructure extended to the American electrical power grid on Wednesday and experts pointed the finger anew at Chinese hackers, among others.
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told reporters the power grid is vulnerable to potentially disabling computer attacks, while declining to comment on reports that an intrusion had taken place.
"The vulnerability is something that the Department of Homeland Security and the energy sector have known about for years," she said. "We acknowledge that ... in this world, in an increasingly cyber world, these are increasing risks." Read Full Article...

Netanyahu to Obama: Stop Iran—Or I Will
Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 12:37PM An Atlantic exclusive
In an interview conducted shortly before he was sworn in today as prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu laid down a challenge for Barack Obama. The American president, he said, must stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons—and quickly—or an imperiled Israel may be forced to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities itself.
“The Obama presidency has two great missions: fixing the economy, and preventing Iran from gaining nuclear weapons,” Netanyahu told me. He said the Iranian nuclear challenge represents a “hinge of history” and added that “Western civilization” will have failed if Iran is allowed to develop nuclear weapons.
In unusually blunt language, Netanyahu said of the Iranian leadership, “You don’t want a messianic apocalyptic cult controlling atomic bombs. When the wide-eyed believer gets hold of the reins of power and the weapons of mass death, then the entire world should start worrying, and that is what is happening in Iran.”
History teaches Jews that threats against their collective existence should be taken seriously, and, if possible, preempted, he suggested. In recent years, the Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has regularly called for Israel to be “wiped off the map,” and the supreme Iranian leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, this month called Israel a “cancerous tumor.” Read Entire Article...
Israeli Airstrikes Against Sudan
Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 10:03AM ABC News' Luis Martinez reports: Israel has conducted three military strikes against targets in Sudan since January in an effort to prevent what were believed to be Iranian weapons shipments from reaching Hamas in the Gaza Strip, ABC News has learned.
Earlier this week, CBSNews.com was the first to report that Israel had conducted an airstrike in January against a convoy carrying weapons north into Egypt to be smuggled into the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
But actually, since January, Israel has conducted a total of three military strikes against smugglers transporting what were believed to be Iranian weapons shipments destined for Gaza, a U.S. official told ABC News. Read entire article...
Proposal to Track Uninsured With Red-Light Cameras Has Cities Seeing Big Money
Friday, March 27, 2009 at 6:15PM By Joshua Rhett Miller
Running a red light may get more complicated — and more expensive — for some of the country's uninsured drivers.
Under a proposal by Chicago Alderman Edward Burke, cameras at 132 city intersections that currently enforce $100 red light violations would also be used to nab motorists whose cars are uninsured. Washington, DC officials told FOXNews.com it is willing to consider a similiar program.
Burke says the increased enforcement not only would make Chicago's roadways safer, but, at $90 per violation, would raise nearly $10 million a year for the cash-strapped city.
"I favor using these cameras to catch more than just motorists who run red lights," Burke said in January when announcing his proposal. "I believe it would also be a responsible use of these cameras to try and reduce the number of motorists who flaunt the law by driving without insurance."
Donal Quinlan, Burke's press secretary, stressed that the alderman's proposal to check for insurance coverage pertains only to vehicles already cited for red light violations. But in the interest of making money, he said, every scenario will be considered.
"I don’t think we're taking anything off the table," Quinlan said of the possibility of using cameras to check all vehicles for insurance coverage, regardless of whether they've run a red light. Read Entire Article...
This sounds like a good idea, raise money, keep uninsured motorists off the street but how is this any different from automatic police. It reminds me of Welsey Snipes in "Demolition Man." How long will we go before doing something about Big Brother and his spying on innocent people?
Pentagon exploring robot killers that can fire on their own
Friday, March 27, 2009 at 11:50AM By Robert S. Boyd | McClatchy Newspapers
WASHINGTON — The unmanned bombers that frequently cause unintended civilian casualties in Pakistan are a step toward an even more lethal generation of robotic hunters-killers that operate with limited, if any, human control.
The Defense Department is financing studies of autonomous, or self-governing, armed robots that could find and destroy targets on their own. On-board computer programs, not flesh-and-blood people, would decide whether to fire their weapons.
"The trend is clear: Warfare will continue and autonomous robots will ultimately be deployed in its conduct," Ronald Arkin, a robotics expert at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, wrote in a study commissioned by the Army.
"The pressure of an increasing battlefield tempo is forcing autonomy further and further toward the point of robots making that final, lethal decision," he predicted. "The time available to make the decision to shoot or not to shoot is becoming too short for remote humans to make intelligent informed decisions."
Autonomous armed robotic systems probably will be operating by 2020, according to John Pike, an expert on defense and intelligence matters and the director of the security Web site GlobalSecurity.org in Washington.
This prospect alarms experts, who fear that machines will be unable to distinguish between legitimate targets and civilians in a war zone.
"We are sleepwalking into a brave new world where robots decide who, where and when to kill," said Noel Sharkey, an expert on robotics and artificial intelligence at the University of Sheffield, England. Read Full Article...

Print Article Olmert hints at Sudan strike: 'No place Israel can't reach'
Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11:16AM
In what could be interpreted as a veiled threat to Iran and a hint at an alleged far-reaching IAF air strike on a convoy of weapons bound for the Gaza Strip, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Thursday asserted that "Israel has never had stronger deterrence than it has gained in the last few years. Those who need to know are aware that there is no place that Israel can't reach."
The greatest threat, Olmert continued, is the Iranian threat. "Israel is not the main player but it's contributing to the international effort to prevent Iran's nuclear armament," he said
The prime minister went on to say, "The main player who should lead on Iran is the United States," an apparent call on the Obama administration to become more aggressive in its approach to the Iranian program. Read entire article...
I told you in my article "The U.S. Surrounds Iran" that there is strong evidence that world leaders want the U.S. to take down Iran. Keep in mind Iran is not the third world roll-over and "please don't hurt me" type. They will want their pound of flesh and won't stop until they have it.
Obama’s War Policies Worse than Bush’s, Anti-War Activist Says
Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 10:54AM Friday, March 20, 2009
By Josiah Ryan, Staff Writer
(CNSNews.com) - President Barack Obama’s war policies in Iraq and Afghanistan are criminal and worse than those of former President Bush, according to Adam Kokesh, who serves on the board of directors of the anti-war group Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW).
Kokesh and other members of the IVAW gathered on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Thursday to call on Obama to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. They also launched a 24-hour vigil/demonstration called “Operation No Change” to mark the sixth anniversary of the start of the Iraq War (March 20, 2003). Read entire article...
